Attack on Assam Rifles jawans: Combing operations on; militant camp busted in Arunachal

The Army busted a militant hideout at Samru in Arunachal Pradesh hours after a deadly ambush on Assam Rifles. However, militants managed to escape. This came after two jawans of the Assam Rifles were killed and three others injured when a group of heavily armed NSCN (K) and ULFA (I) militants ambushed them at Jagun in Tinsukia district of Assam, close to the border with Arunachal Pradesh on Sunday. Two militants were also killed in retaliatory firing by security forces.

Combing operations by the security forces are still on against the United Liberation Front of Western South East Asia (UNLFW). The UNLFW is a conglomerate of United Liberation Front of Assam (Independent), Nationalist Socialist Council of Nagaland (Khaplang), Kamatapur Liberation Organization (KLO) and National Democratic Front of Boroland (Songbijit).[Courtesy ::DY365]
