POWER TARIFFS TO GO UP IN STATE, GUWAHATI TO GET 24 HOURS UNINTERRUPTED POWER SUPPLY: POWER MINISTER



Power minister Pallab Lochan Das on Tuesday stated that the power tariffs in the state may be hiked soon as state sector power utility Assam Power Distribution Company Limited (APDCL) is facing crisis because of its debt of around Rs 265 crore.
The power minister stated that the APDCL owed a wheeling charge of Rs 200 crore to the Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd for the past nine months and Rs 54 crore to the National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC). 
Earlier, the APDCL had proposed levy of a Fuel and Power Purchase Price Adjustment (FPPPA) charge at the rate of 59 paise per unit with immediate effect. The power minister further added that 24 hours uninterrupted power supply would be provided in Guwahati under the Integrated Power Development Scheme.[Source:: Dy365]
