A few days ago, the Condé Nast Traveller magazine featuring actress Priyanka Chopra on its cover was called out on social media. The reason for the furore was the t-shirt that PeeCee donned which some thought was insulting refugees and immigrants. After the entire controversy, the magazine has released an official statement saying that they believe in bringing down the walls.
The t-shirt which Priyanka wore had words, ‘refugee’, ‘immigrant’, ‘outsider’, crossed with red lines. The only word which was not struck with a line was ‘traveller’. As soon as the photo surfaced on social media, it drew flak from every nook and corner. The cover was labelled insensitive towards refugees who don’t flee their homes because of their choice.
While the Desi Girl has maintained stoic silence on the matter, the lifestyle and travel magazine has released a statement.[Source:: India TV]
